I don't think you're getting pretentious... rather I think that your art skills are advancing, and you are working on subject matters that are more serious to fit your more serious/realistic style. Plus, you're not getting drunk as much because you graduated college. I wouldn't worry about it. Personally, I've been enjoying these more personal, honest, visceral comics, they make a nice change.
