#170-The Adventures of Wesley the Tragic Child
Hahahaha. Hahahaha. Oh man.
Man. What, is it like I update this thing or something?
Edit: Haha, okay, fine, some background: Last night Wesley was talking about various childhood disappointments, and somehow the idea of Wesley the Tragic Child was born. Bryant and I both immediately and independently knew that in the comic representation, he would have to have the exact same head as the rest of the comic, but on a tiny body, acting out those oh-so-sad childhood memories Wesley related to us. I added the mime tears, beret, and the fact that his body is a black-and-white Calvin rip-off. Hilarity ensued, at least for me. Expect to see more of these in the future.
[Here is a poem I later wrote about the same incident:]
Wesley the Tragic Child
Wesley the Tragic Child,
a panther, sad but wild,
in a foaming sea of dreams
that sharp with hidden-teeth teems:
Gleefully to the fair
Wesley skipped to see there
the world’s smallest horse, but woe!
a tall one in a deep hole.
His father’s hand he bit,
cursed carnies’ subtle wit,
on his lips an evil curl,
sick green revenge: Tilt-a-Whirl.
He chuckled and chortled and winked so sly,
his wet cotton candy rained from the sky.
[I have a revised version of this that I think is a tad better, but this is still fun and I can’t find the revised copy]
